Ayurveda unterscheidet drei saisonale Hauptzyklen:
Was bedeutet Pitta denn eigentlich?
Bevorzugen Sie:

Was ist Heuschnupfen eigentlich?
Was kann man tun?

Ayurvedic Faulty Food Combinations, 08.01.2016

Healthy Life wooden sign with a forest background
Faulty Food Combinations Part I
Ayurveda offers a rational approach of choosing the correct diet based on an individual’s constitution. According to Ayurveda every food has its own taste (rasa), a temperature-related property like cooling or heating (virya) and a post-digestive effect called Vipaka. Furthermore, there is another category which is called Prabhava, an unexplained effect.
Another important aspect is agni , the digestive fire. Agni determines how well (or not) food is digested, BUT food combinations are also really important at the same time.
If you combine foods having different energies, taste or post-digestive effects which are not suitable to each other and/or not suitable to somebody’s constitution it can influence the agni, the enzymatic system, etc and can lead to toxins (ama) and diseases.
Let me give you an example:
Milk and melons! Both have cooling properties, but milk is laxative and melon diuretic. It takes longer to digest milk. Additionally, the melon contains enzymes which cause the milk to curdle. This “situation” is even more difficult to digest for the stomach. It is better not to combine milk and sour foods.
A few factors can contribute to weaken these effects of faulty food combinations:
– Strengthen your agni!
– Add spices.
Try to avoid the following combinations:
(1)  Dairy and meat.
(2)  Dairy and fish.
(3)  Dairy and fruits.
I will give you more examples next week!
And keep in mind – Ayurveda is also about happiness. When you have such a combination once in a while it will be ok. It is about balance.

Ayurvedic nutrition & diet recommendations, 04.01.2016

green smoothie juice on wooden table with spinach
1. Eat at regular time!
2. Eat only when you are hungry! This means when you are really, really hungry and not just having an increased appetite!
3. Prefer warm meals! It is easier to digest!
4. Avoid faulty food combinations (more to this topic soon)!
5. Prefer local fresh food.
6. Avoid leftovers and prefer quality food!
7. Create a calm atmosphere! Avoid watching TV, etc while having food. Sit down, take some time and enjoy your meal!
8. Do not overeat! Eat the amount of food that would fit into your both palms! Listen to the signals of your body! Stop when you are satisfied even when the food is tempting.
9. Avoid processed food.
10. According to Ayurveda lunch should be the biggest meal since Agni –the digestive fire- is the strongest.
11. Eat according to your dosha (imbalance). 12. Do not eat too fast and also too slow! Take your time to chew the food!

When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need. – Ayurvedic Proverb

Winter Yoga, 21.12.2015

Beneficial Winter Asanas
Winter is Kapha time with some Vata undertones! The weather is mainly cold, damp, and heavy, and everything seems to move slower as usual. According to Ayurveda we are more susceptible to mucus type illnesses like colds etc.
Chest and throat opening Yoga asanas are your buddies!
They open the chest, stretch the throat, drain the sinuses, relieve congestion of the chest, warm and activate.
Examples are:
  1. Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) is a good start of the practice to build up heat in the body!
  2. Matsyasana (Fish Pose).
  3. Locust (Salabhasana).
  4. Dhanurasana (Bow Pose).
  5. Ustrasana (Camel Pose).
  6. Shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana) activates circulation and detoxification of system.
  7. Headstand (Sirsasana).
Furthermore, Bhastrika and Kapalabhati build internal heat and helps to remove mucus.

Ayurvedic Remedies for Colds, 14.12.2015

Tee

Normally Colds and flu occur during the winter and spring season. The symptoms are very familiar: congestion, runny nose, cough, achy body, sometimes fever, etc.
According to Ayurveda colds are a Kapha-Vata disorder. The body builds up an excess of cool and moist kapha qualities, resulting in congestion and a runny nose. At the same time it may suffer from excess Vata, which reduces Agni, leading to chills, poor digestion, etc..
Remedies:
– Drink a lot of tea like for instance a ginger, cinnamon and cardamom tea! Ginger is really helpful! Take two parts ginger, 3 parts cinnamon and a pinch of cardamom. Steep one teaspoon in a cup of hot water for 10-15 min. Add some honey if you like (never boil the honey in the water)!
– Drink lots of hot water!
– Taking some Vitamin C will be beneficial!
– Strictly avoid dairy products!
– Rest is very important!
– Take 2 capsules of Triphala before night sleep as a preventive measure!
 Get well soon!

Meditation, 07.12.2015

If you are interested in meditation and you do not know how to do it you can find a little instruction here:

1. Find a nice and quiet place where you feel comfortable.

2. Turn your cell phone and other distractions off!

If you like turn some chill out music on (not too loud, rather in the background).
3. Find your seat! A simple cross-legged seat is just fine. If you are able to sit in a Lotus position for a while.. Go ahead!
Sit on a Yoga mat, a pillow, a blanket or a chair and take a stable seat with a straight spine. Look forward and keep your shoulders relaxed!
Your arms/hands should be symmetrical. You can fold your hands loosely in your lap or put them on top of your knees.

4. Close your eyes or look at a point in front of you.

5. Set an intension for your meditation! Ask yourself for example ‘why do I want to meditate?’
6. Focus on your breath. Inhale and exhale deeply. Let your breath flow!

7. It might be helpful to use a mantra or to count your breath!
(For example: Inhale-Exhale-1, Inhale-Exhale-2, etc – count until you reach 9 and then start again from 1)! What happens? You bring your attention to the present moment!

8. It is absolutely normal when your mind wanders and you loose track of your breath .. Your thoughts are coming and going.. Do not judge, try to come back to your focus!

A couple of minutes each day are fine!
It is important to sustain a meditation practice in order to feel the benefits.
Enjoy<3

About Me

Ayurveda • Yoga • Skydiving

Miriam’s education and interests originate from the arena of biochemistry in which she has a degree at University level.
Throughout the years, Miriam has always been intrigued in the relationship between the body and how our sensory perception diversely interacted with one another. Her most important interest in Biochemistry as well as her MBA led her to Belgium to work for Jannssen Pharmaceutika in Strategic Management.
This work, only strengthened Miriam’s interest and search for answers to the questions of how one can sustainably counter-balance negative factors; such as stress, burnout, poor nutritional habits, etc. on a daily basis. Her answer is unconventional: Yoga and skydiving.
Extreme opposites? Maybe. Nevertheless, they have many things in common: Focus! Remaining calm. The relaxation follows the strenuousness. These are two extremes that lead to balance.
As a result of this unique passion, NutriSenses was born.
How to stay unflustered while falling a few hundred km/h. Remaining calm in a fast-moving environment, under enormous pressure.
NutriSenses is your answer to the question: how one can reduce daily stress and respectively gain new energy and revitalisation. Finding balance. Going down your own path. Enhancing the quality of life. Feeling happy and healthy.

Customer Feedback

Transformation. For a better balance.

Marisa Klein, Studentin, Deutschland:

Cassia Barbosa, Solopreneur, Yogini, Sonning Common, UK

My first Ashtanga Yoga with Mimi
Mimi has an incredible energy, she is very enthusiastic and dynamic. She is very present during the class. She does encouraging to bring awareness to the breath and provides a lot of background knowledge. Last time she explained the meaning of bandha in Yoga to me.
One on one class it’s a treat! She is so focus to making adjusts in my posture, even without her saying a word, I feel as if I’ve learned a lot about my body alignment and what my body is actually capable of doing.
Very happy with the all experience and looking forward for another classes in a soon future.

Dagmar Poth, Multiple Sklerose Patientin, Rentnerin, Deutschland

Liebe Mimi,

Steffen Holland-Nell, Entrepreneur & Sportler, Deutschland

Manon Thiebaut, Yogini, Belgium

Mimi!!! How are you doing beautiful? Just wanted to take some news and send smiles!
I really started doing Yoga! I am everyday on my mat for good feelings and everything started thanks to you! So I really wanted to thank you for the sun you’re bringing into my life even if you don’t do anything to it. Everytime I start my Yoga Session I think of you cause you opened my mind to it and you introduced me to it! 🙂
Thank you<3

Christopher Rayner, Director, England

I experienced several massages like for instance a Pristabhyanga, a Hasta Abhyanga and a full Abhyanga massage at NutriSenses. This proved a very relaxing and therapeutic experience. I suffer from shoulder and joint aches and the massage relieved these tensions and left me most relaxed for at least 48 hours. The application of oils and the careful massage movements were most beneficial and customized to my needs. As a busy business executive the occasional massage forms part of my de-stress routine and I can see the benefits of regular massages in conjunction with other services that NutriSenses offers in regards to nutrition, Yoga and meditation. I would strongly recommend NutriSenses to any potential client who wishes to consider the benefits of Ayurvedic therapy in a professional and relaxing setting.

Marcia Cardoso, England

I had the most amazing Body Massage with Miriam. She is very professional, positive and friendly person. The Ayurveda products she used were so healing, relaxing and therapeutic. I highly recommend her.

Romain Retter, Luxemburg

Hi Mimi, first off all i want to thank you for your help, your time and your professionality.
The way you approach your clients is incredible. I realy can feel the love and the passion you put into this. You spead such a big amount of positive energie. Already this little ditail motivated me to stay on the track for a better and healthier life. I can see that you realy want to help people!!!
You not only sell your services, you changes lives!
You not only repair bodies, you repair minds and souls!
Your massage helped me a lot. Already after the fist session my back was so much better. I felt lighter and most of the pain was gone. But thats not all, my back became better and better every day without beeing touching. These have to be the consequenses of your work. And then, one day, during another treatment, somehow you mannaged to get into my head while you where working on my back… My body disconnected from my brain and at the moment they found together again my brain felt completly rebooted. I don`t know how to describe this but afterwords my way of thinking changed. The “down” i had during the last month had tuned into an “up”. So for me you gave me more than just a relief from my hurting back. you gave me back happiness.
I also want to write about an other area of Nutrisences. Nutrition.
After applying your shared knowledge about nutrition and after knowing some of the “do`s” and “don`ts”, my energylevel and my motivation in life are rising daily. i feel stronger and i feel happyer.
Getting out of bed in the morning became so much easyer and in the evening after 18houre-days i go to bed with a smile. (also on monday)
I can change a lot of other things and i still have a lot to learn but i know that i will follow this new way of life because it`s just so much better. Thank you for showing it to me.
YOU CHANGED MY LIFE!!!
Long story short:
In my eyes Nutrisences stands for
-Health
-Changes
-Happiness
-Professionality
-Better life
-Trust
-Strengh
-Balance
-Pureness
